EMBRACING MY FEARS

Yesterday i saw a picture of two lion cubs playing with a rabbit in a daily news paper. These were being observed by the researchers for behavioral pattern of the carnivorous animals in earlier age.The rabbit seemed pretty comfortable in the company of the cubs. The cubs were also playful.

Similar behavior we can watch in small children who are not yet introduced to the element of fear.Once i remember while on a visit to Mussorie i saw a family of foreigners, parents with two sons aged around six or eight. There was a giant wheel in the Central Park, which was handled manually by two experts by putting their weight on the spikes for movement of the wheel....... At that period of time....that is around two or three decades back. When the giant wheel stopped both the children wanted to go up there to the center of the wheel to have an idea how it spins. They were of course very small and their weight could hardly move the locked wheel. The parents didn't stop them. The kids went up to the center of the wheel ....the two experts constantly giving them directions. There was no fear in the eyes of either parents or sons.Fearlessly these small kids had accomplished what they desired to do.

Kids are generally fearless and bold enough and we as elders due to our own set patterns of thinking about safety and concern for the well being of the child start instilling fear in him or her. In a way elders transfer fear in younger generations. There is no doubt that one should be careful enough not to get hurt or harmed in any way, but being bold to an extent gives freedom from the unwanted clutches of fear.

With every bold action one dispels fear of the unknown, traversing the unknown path realizing the abundant inherent potential of the self. The best way to get freedom from fear is to embrace it with confidence. No fear can ever be greater than self. Face it head on to move ahead.....
